So it turns out that 750km road trip in 4 days was a little excessive and left us feeling completely drained for about a week. That said we did get to see a lot in a short space of time and it was also really nice to share the experience with our Nepalese family.
Both my host sister and her daughter REALLY struggled with being in the car and both suffered badly with car sickness - we felt very sorry for them as they were throwing up into plastic bags every few hours. Not at all fun for them. They were both really relaxed about it though and just took it in their stride, Even Nani whose only 9 years old just got on with it and didn't really complain despite being so poorly.
On the first day our driver collected us from the host home in Lamatar at 6am, we all piled into our Mahindra Scorpio and set off.

Mayhem on the main highway

The first leg of the journey took around 7 hours we arrived to Chitwan feeling very dusty and rather rattled around as the roads here leave much to be desired as most of them are extremely winding and bumpy.

| Dust clouds! |
Due to their being only one road to and from Kathmandu to Chitwan when there was a traffic jam it took a loooooong time to clear - here we waited over an hour whilst a truck which had over turned was cleared from the road, the queue went on for miles in both direction - patience definitely is a virtue when travelling by land in Nepal.

What i want to know is how did they get that digger to there when the road was blocked?
When we finally arrived we dropped our bags at the guest house and headed straight out to try to spot some wildlife. We looked into taking a jeep safari into the national park but decided that the price was well above our budget, however we got really lucky and actually saw Rhino, Elephants, Deer's and Crocs all from the bank of the river where we sat and chilled and have a coffee.

| There's two crocs here - honest! Can you see them? |
That evening we went for a simple dinner and then for a beer before bed and this chap decided to join us and was drinking our spillage off the table - I wonder if insects can get drunk??
